Pampulha
Description
The Architectural Complex of Pampulha is a true green oasis surrounded by beautiful modern architecture in the northwestern region of the capital of Minas Gerais. Realised by former mayor Juscelino Kubitschek and projected by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1940´s, its construction was part of a large project of modernization of the city, creating a sophisticated cultural and leisure complex for the population, located 15km away from the city centre. The artificial lagoon, with almost 18 km of perimetre, the Governador Magalhães Pinto (Mineirão) and the Journalist Felipe Drummond (Mineirinho) stadiums and the São Francisco de Assis Church, considered the masterpiece of the set by specialists are part of this complex.
